Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum
Digital Engineering initially provided conceptual project development to assist the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum (LPBMM) in obtaining a grant funded by the EPA and awarded by the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Restoration Program. The LPBMM and Digital Engineering worked together in assessing critical shoreline protection needs to protect the Tchefuncte River Range Rear Light Station that was built in 1867 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Working together the LPBMM and Digital Engineering developed a detailed Project Work Plan Proposal that detailed project goals and objectives including activities by task with corresponding budgets, milestones, deliverables, and timelines. Through this process, the LPBMM was awarded $90,480 by the EPA and Lake Pontchartrain Basin Restoration Program for the design phase of the shoreline protection for the light station and habitat protection for the peninsula.
DE has completed the design phase of the project which includes design of a rock breakwater and vinyl sheet pile bulkhead. We are currently acquiring all necessary permits in anticipation of a 2016 commencement of construction.
