DE was excited to be a part of the ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly constructed Fire Station 17 in Metairie on Friday. Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni, current City of Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn (former Jefferson Parish District 4 Councilman), and Bissonet Civic Association President Jim Young spoke at the ceremony that was attended by other Parish personnel as well as local associations and citizens.
DE served as the Louisiana Architect and Engineer of Record for the demolition of the existing Fire Station No. 17 and the construction of a new three-story, 10,500 sf station on Kawanee Avenue. The new station is a steel frame structure designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane forces. The station includes two apparatus bays, 150 kw natural gas generator, and dormitory space for 10 fire personnel per shift.
