We All Win, When Cancer Loses.

Dear Friends,

In the fall of 2014, my life was forever changed when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. My son was only 2 years old at the time. He needed his mommy. I had no idea what to expect. I was scared, but I was determined to kick Tony the Tumor to the curb. I embarked on a journey that included a chemotherapy treatment that was established as “the standard of care” for Hodgkin Lymphoma patients some 40 years ago. I then received radiation therapy and was free of Tony nearly a year after I went to war against him.

Enters my next battle against blood cancer, and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2021 Man & Woman of the Year campaign! Two years ago, Kurt Evans was a candidate for the Man & Woman of the Year campaign. He ran in my honor and became the 2019 Man of the Year. I am proud to say that I have been nominated by Kurt and by John Shires to carry on the fundraising campaign for LLS this year.

Why is this campaign important? Because LLS ensures access to cures and treatments for blood cancer patients. LLS does its part in searching for a cure by funding promising research and helping patients and families through financial aid, education and support groups. The perfect example of innovations in blood cancer treatments resulting from LLS funded research is the 2018 FDA approval of a new treatment for Hodgkin Lymphoma patients…the first new treatment approved in 4 decades!!! This is an organization that’s doing the right things with the dollars it raises, and I am proud to be associated with it. Now here’s where you come in.

My campaign to be Woman of the Year is all about dollars raised. I have until June 17th, 2021 to reach my goal of raising $50,000, and I am asking you to join me in this ambitious campaign. Here are some ways you can help and support my campaign:

  1. Make a tax-deductible contribution. Every dollar counts. Enter the following link to my fundraising page into your browser – https://pages.lls.org/mwoy/msla/nola21/fmarcotteb or scan the QR code below.

  2. Join my team and help us reach as many people as possible! Reach out to your friends, family and colleagues to share the mission of LLS, endorse my campaign and ask for their support. The more we share this message, the more successful we can be in increasing awareness for LLS!

  3. Attend an event – We are planning a cocktail reception later during the campaign. Let me know if you are interested and we will add you to the distribution list.

  4. Let me know if your company is looking for sponsorship opportunities or matches gifts! This is a great way to promote corporate philanthropy!

Thanks for helping make difference in the lives of thousands of blood cancer patients!
