Runway & Taxiway Upgrades
One major initiative was the rehabilitation of Runway 18/36, which showed severe cracking, surface deterioration, and ponding. Taxiway A also suffered from deterioration due to inadequate cross slope and base failures. DE provided design, bidding, and construction services for a full pavement rehabilitation, ensuring continued safety and preventing costly shutdowns.
Runway Life Extended
The original scope—milling and a 2-inch asphalt overlay—was expanded once base failures were discovered. DE worked with FAA and LADOTD to secure additional funding, reconstruct 5,100 square yards of pavement, and proceed with overlay operations. The project ultimately extended the runway’s service life, enhanced safety, and provided resilience against further deterioration.
