MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited College

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana (required within six months of hire date)

  • Minimum 8 years of highway and roadway design and/or traffic engineering experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • Project experience applying AASHTO, ADA, and State (preferably LADOTD) guidelines

  • Previous work experience in Microsoft and Autodesk products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Projects, MicroStation, Autodesk ACAD and Civil 3D v. 18 and above)

  • Previous work experience in traffic analysis software including Highway Capacity Software (HCS) Syncho, Vissum, and SIDRA.

  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Certification (PTOE) preferred (not required)

  • Understanding of the application of traffic operations principles including ITE, MUTCD, AASHTO, and state DOT requirements, policies, manuals and procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Perform design of traffic (including signal design), transportation, roadway, sidewalk, safety, and ITS Projects or studies.

  • Direct, coordinate and exercise functional authority over project engineers for the planning, organization, integration, execution of, and completion of projects.

  • Managing the operational aspects of the scope for a project.

  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staffing needs according to the project requirements.

  • Performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of civil engineering to the functional area of the assignment.

  • Review of project design for compliance with engineering principles, organizational standards, contractual requirements, and related specifications.

  • Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Conceptualizes the civil design approach for major phases of transportation (highway/roadway) related projects, experience in schematics and final design (PS&E).

  • Coordination of projects with clients to discuss technical components of projects and studies.

  • Resolves a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).

  • Serves as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.

  • Reviews plans and schedules, and prepares or reviews technical specifications, contract documents, CPM schedules, technical reports, and estimates.

  • Participates in contract bidding and construction administration; may observe project action on site.

  • Address any issue of a job that needs immediate action and attention.

  • Supervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project.

  • Ability to participate in project pursuits, proposal preparation and interviews.

  • Participation at public meetings.

  • Monitor project budgets and schedule for compliance and profitability and form a remediation plan before the project suffers.

  • Control expenditures within limitations of a project budget.

  • Performs other duties assigned by Digital Engineering’s Director of Transportation.
