MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited College.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in municipal engineering work. Construction Administration experience is a plus.

  • Possess a current Engineering Intern license or Professional Engineering license

    Note: applications will be accepted from persons who possess current licenses in states other than Louisiana. However, the applicant will be required to obtain a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate or Professional Engineering license within 6 months of hire.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Perform engineering duties in program management, planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of infrastructure and facilities such as: water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater collection, treatment, and pumping systems; storm water collection and conveyance systems; flood protection systems; and associated civil infrastructure such as roadways, non-vehicular facilities, and site design.

  • Program Management tasks such as reviewing and approving consultant and contractor invoices, high level budgeting and cost estimating, and preparation of administrative documents.

  • Inspect project sites and coordinate with contractors to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.

  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.

  • Plan and design hydraulic systems or structures using computer assisted design or drawing tools.

  • Identify environmental risks and develop risk management strategies for civil engineering projects.

  • Perform engineering activities ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations.

  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.

  • Graphics – Work with pictures in graphics programs or other applications, including creating simple graphics, manipulating the appearance, and inserting graphics into other programs.

  • Spreadsheets - Using a computer application to enter, manipulate, and format text and numerical data; insert, delete, and manipulate cells, rows, and columns; and create and save worksheets, charts, and graphs.

  • Word Processing - Using a computer application to type text, insert pictures, format, edit, print, save, and retrieve word processing documents.

  • CAD – Utilizing Autodesk AutoCAD software for project designing, takeoffs, and modeling.
